Genevos e-fuel-compatible solution set to decarbonize shipping
)
This year’s expo sees award-winning Genevos showcasing its high-power HPM-250 fuel cell power system with unique e-fuel reformer compatibility: a game-changer for deep-sea decarbonization.
The energy storage of alternative fuels is a key transportation at sea. This next-generation marine fuel cell enables fuel flexibility, allowing deep-sea vessels to decarbonize their fleet with the option of e-fuel choice (hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, etc) to meet specific infrastructure and operational needs. Fuel cells are the preferred choice over ICE due to their high efficiencies, zero emissions and considerable weight and cost advantages over batteries. Their silent operation supports environmental pressure to reduce underwater noise for further protection of marine life.
Genevos’ highly versatile solution has been developed in response to the increasing demand for e-fuels to decarbonize the shipping sector – currently responsible for over 1 billion tonnes of CO2 per year. The HPM-250 responds directly to fleet requirements for emissions reduction and high reliability by offering a modular, scalable solution for vessels and power conversion at higher efficiencies than combustion, thereby reducing operational costs in addition to clear environmental benefits.
