Lehmann Marine launches water-cooled high-power LFP battery

Visit the booth to meet German maritime battery specialist Lehmann Marine as it introduces its latest water-cooled, high-power 2C lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery at Electric and Hybrid Marine Expo 2025. This innovation offers a discharge rate double that of Lehmann’s current LFP energy storage solutions. It is tailored for power-demanding applications such as fully electric and hybrid vessel propulsion.

The modular and compact design ensures the system’s adaptability to various vessel requirements, while water cooling enhances efficiency. LFP cells offer significant safety advantages over traditional NMC batteries, as they are less prone to fire – even under thermal runaway conditions – making them ideal for onboard use. Backed by a recent merger with the Greek Sunlight Group, Lehmann Marine is scaling up production to meet growing demand. Sunlight’s extensive battery expertise and global reach further empower this advancement in marine energy storage.

The new 2C LFP battery system, which is yet to be officially named, will debut in prototype form at the expo. The first deliveries of this new energy storage solution are expected by mid 2026. Building on the success of its Cube system, Lehmann Marine aims to redefine maritime energy with this breakthrough in compact, safe, and powerful battery technology. See it first-hand at the show.
