Marine battery maker AYK Energy secures DNV approval for ‘game changing’ new product range
)
AYK Energy has secured type approval from classification society DNV for its latest range of marine battery systems, marking a major step forward in clean maritime propulsion. The approved products—Pisces, Pisces+, OrionAN, OrionAN+, and aluminum legacy modules—combine enhanced safety and performance with significantly reduced costs.
The approval enables AYK to move forward with a 10.4MWh Pisces+ battery installation on Wasaline’s Aurora Botnia, the largest retrofit project of its kind. Designed to power ferries, tugs, workboats, superyachts, and even larger vessels like tankers, the new range offers both high energy density and balanced hybrid options.
Founder Chris Kruger called the approval a game changer. “We are very proud to secure this approval from DNV,” he said. “It is testament to the enormous efforts of our engineering team to drive innovation without compromising safety, quality and performance.”
