Heine studied electrical engineering at the University of Rostock. Over the past 30 years, he has had various roles in project planning, sales and management for electric propulsion systems and hybrid solutions in Wärtsilä and predecessor companies (SAM Electronics). He is currently chief technologist in ship electrification solutions at Wärtsilä and lectures in marine electronics at the Technical Universities of Hamburg and Berlin.
